Normal Extraordinary Love

© 2020 Jeff Jackson

Fred and Bobby, Bobby and Fred

Partners for decades

Then they finally wed.

Struggle with Scripture,

But know how they feel

Despite what the world says

Their love’s for real.

Are we so starved for beauty

We can’t see when it breathes?

Are we so parched by our longing

We’re afraid to be free?

They’ve got a normal

Extraordinary love

Sarah and Lara, Lara and Sarah

Hearts so immense,

They became foster parents

Carry those children as they

would in their wombs

Love in their house could fill

8 billion rooms

Are we so stuck in our sickness,

we’re afraid of the cure?

Are we so hung up on purity

We can’t see what’s pure?

Down by the water,

I questioned Fred

He should’ve been angry

but smiled back said,

“I love Bobby

and he loves me.

How could God not

make that holy?”

Love is love is love is love is love....
