Glow of a Van Gogh

© 2015 Jeff Jackson

I often see you as a lighthouse

Shining out across a bay

Attracting captains looking for the shore

Yet also sending them away

You’re stretched across a canvass

Overlaid with brilliant golds

Illuminating flower yellows

Youthful spirit, antique soul

You’ve got a kind of glow

I’ve seen it only once before

In the background pulsing so much more

Shining out like a Van Gogh

Oh…oh…

Your mind is the largest ocean

With all its whirlpools and waves

Do all those thoughts get shipwrecked in the swells

When you can’t taste what your heart craves?

Life can be dark like vanilla

And taste just about as sweet

You’re no more dull or tasteless

Than ghosts are made of sheets

Chorus

I heard when stronger angels fall

Fiercer devils will enrapture

Yet your shadow casts more light

Than any art could ever capture

Oh…oh…

Chorus
